Just thinking
by Rosemary ~ July 27th, 2008I keep trying to write something, but I’m having trouble taming the thoughts swirling in my head enough to get them into coherent sentences.
So much is happening that is difficult, but we really are upheld by the goodness of the Lord and knowing that He has ordained every circumstance. Each part of it has eternal purpose. Things aren’t out of control, even though it feels like they are at times. Make that most of the time. I’d like life to be tidy, manageable. At least that it feels endurable. It isn’t, and I’m thankful that God brings me beyond myself and shows me that His way leads to glory.
Something is different this time around. I’ve often experienced suffering as though God were saying “take your medicine; it’s good for you.” Does it make sense to say that this time I see God’s joy? That in the background of day-to-day events there’s an eternal symphony that plays and points to heaven and the everlasting glory of God? Oh, it’s definitely not easy, but by the grace of God we’re being given eyes to see beyond the moment and toward eternity. Like scales lifted from the eye. Thanks be to God.

Yes, it does, at least to me. Our family is gearing up for what may be a very tough time, but in the wait God is whispering, “remember my Faithfulness. Watch and wait. I will prove myself sufficient for all your needs and my peace I give you.”

Our family devotion the other day was on how man is offended when we question his truthfulness but God who is Very Truth invites His children to test His Word. For He is always found faithful in His Word. The devotion went on to say that this tasting and seeing that He is good brings the deepest delight. Enjoy this feast, Rosemary, in anticipation of the feast that never ends.

“What do I believe about God’s character if I only take the ‘good’ as His grace.”
That was a very thought provoking quote I read last week.
God is good all the time and you have seen that Joy in Him and it has a way of getting our attention in times of great difficulty. Thank you for sharing your insight into the goodness of our precious Lord at all times.
