From Elisabeth Elliot:

by Rosemary ~ April 28th, 2007

God is God. Because He is God, He is worthy of my trust and obedience. I will find rest nowhere but in His holy will, a will that is unspeakably beyond my largest notions of what He is up to.

The will of God is never exactly what you expect it to be. It may seem to be much worse, but in the end it’s going to be a lot better and a lot bigger.

Doesn’t it make you wonder why we frequently balk at what God is doing in our lives and in the world around us; why we find ourselves dragging our feet in resistance to his will?

When I realize that I am balking at what God is doing in my life and those around me, my heart convicts that I don’t trust what He’s chosen to do. I react as an unruly 2 year old in dragging my feet, believing myself more capable of choosing.

Lord, I believe, help me in my unbelief!

Lord, help me to see the heaven on earth you have already laid before me…that ephesian truth Jim Elliot spoke of. Is this alone not worthy of my obedience to Your will? Is it not worthy of my unspeakable childlike joy to praise Your name in blind trust of Your good perfect, and pleasing will and perfect character? Lord, help me to be a woman of influence and grace to freely give as I freely receive from you, and with such great joy!!
