This passage spoke to me this morning…
Every duty calls for more grace than I now possess,
but not more than is found in Thee, the divine treasure
in whom all fullness dwells.
To Thee I repair for grace upon grace,
until every void made by sin be replenished
and I am filled with all Thy fullness.

O Lord,
Length of days does not profit me
except the days are passed in thy presence,
in thy service, to thy glory.
Give me a grace that precedes, follows, guides,
sustains, sanctifies, aids every hour,
that I may not be one moment apart from thee,
but may rely on thy Spirit

As I read in The Valley of Vision today, these words expressed so concisely the things that I’ve been reading and thinking about in the last few days, and I echo the Puritan’s prayer:
O Lord God,
Thou has commanded me to believe in Jesus;
and I would flee to no other refuge,
wash in no other fountain,
build on [...]

Lord Jesus,
I sin–Grant that I may never cease grieving because of it,
never be content with myself,
never think I can reach a point of perfection,
Kill my envy, command my tongue,
trample down self.
Give me grace to be holy, kind, gentle, pure, peaceable,
to live fore thee and not for self,
to copy thy words, acts, spirit,
to be transformed into [...]

My brother Dan emailed this old Welsh prayer to me this morning, and I thought it a good one to share with you all.
What we know not, teach us,

What we have not, grant us,

What we are not, make us.
